CRYSTAL MOUNTAIN RIPPIN CHIX STEEPS CAMPS
Monday and Tuesday Mar 5-6 2018
Thursday and Friday Mar 8-9 2018
Named Best Camp 2016, TGR’s best camps 2015 and Best Gals Adventure 2014, Rippin Chix Camps are no-frills steep skiing/adventure/powder camps for real girl and women skiers. Expert champion chix coaching and video analysis will have you conquering your fears and expanding your comfort zones with our unique and unconventional baby-step skills progressions.
This steeps camp will be located at one of my favorite resorts in the US, at award-winning Crystal Mountain Resort located right next to the convenient slope-side lodging of Crystal Mountain Hotels. Known for its legendary terrain, Crystal is a real skiers dream with extensive above tree line steep bowls, challenging tree lines, cornices, and fun chutes. There is none of the icky tacky glitz that has overtaken many resorts, but everything any skier would love.
Both are easily accessible with affordable flights into Seattle, Washington where you can hitch a ride with local camper, rent a 4wd vehicle, or take the ski shuttle.
These unforgettable technical tips and tactics will redefine your experience and confidence in all the yucky stuff – including pillows, powder, trees, crud, roots, rocks, moguls, ice, bumps, air, jump-turns, straight-lines and chutes. And just a warning – we are known for being very upfront, graphic, silly, and visual, all in hopes of creating lasting memorable tools that you will unlikely ever forget. Our methodology is very un-PC and very un-ski-school, involving strange terminology like “squeezing the thong”, “serving martinis”, “pushing the bush”, and many more on our crazy fun skills list.
Alpine, Telemark, or AT skiers are welcome, with multiple levels for all types of skiers – from those that are petrified but wanting to learn steep skiing (in the lower level), to charging rippers wanting to learn and/or perfect air in the upper level, and also those somewhere in the middle – both mentally and physically.
Make sure you meet our camp requirements for skiing ability. Roughly, the “lower level” is learning steep skiing but must be able to make ten consecutive turns on a single black ungroomed slope. The “upper level” should be able to make ten turns on an ungroomed double black, no problem. The middle group falls somewhere in between. These turns don’t have to be pretty, as this is a camp to improve your technique and expand your terrain comfort zones, but this should NOT be your absolute first experience off groomed runs or on black runs. You should also be comfortably physically fit to ski all day long. At each camp you may choose the lower, middle, or upper level based upon your confidence and skills, and we will let you choose the right level for you after we do warm up runs all together.
This 2-day camp includes two full days of instruction and video analysis (weather dependent), with all National and World Champion Freeskiing women coaches.
Camps are guaranteed to change your life, or your money is refunded.

Rippin Chix is renowned for its unconventional, unforgettable, and unique teaching methods. This camp is about as far from traditional lesson as one can get. Be prepared for a graphic teaching style and strong language, such as “serving martinis”, “pushing the bush” and “squeezing the thong”. It may not be PC, but you won’t find yourself forgetting your new ways to master the steeps. Progressions are taught with non-intimidating baby-step methods – how to catch air five different ways, how to ski faster/bigger turns and/or how to straight-line, how to hop turn in tight places and power slide and scrub speed in others, how to save energy, and how to tackle those yucky double-black entrances.
Whether you are petrified of learning the steeps or wanting to enter your first freeskiing competition, we can reach your goals. There will be a minimum of two ability/confidence levels decided by the participants themselves. Lower group should be able to link 10 turns on a groomed black run, and the upper group should be able to link 10 turns on a ungroomed double black run and be wanting to push their limits. Spaces very limited – register early a 6-1 group ratio is typical.
Also included in the camp – amazing prizes from our sponsors: Osprey, and Elemental Herbs, Pistil Designs, and Epic Bar. Visit these great websites to increase your chances of prizes from Osprey Packs and All Good during the Trivia Contest at each event.
